Village Hall Committee

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

 

Chairperson: Peter Underdown

Peter has been chairman of the village hall since 2020.  His main objective is to make sure the hall runs smoothly by dealing with any maintenance issues and arranging yearly servicing of any appliances – CCTV, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, electrical testing and the yearly wash down of the hall. Peter chairs the committee meetings which are held 4 times a year and also liaises with the letting secretary with regard to bookings so that he can have the heating on ready for whatever is going on in the hall.

Treasurer: Sue Killick

Sue moved to Chart Sutton in 2023 from Greenwich in London. She has worked as a medical scientist in haematology at Guys Hospital, as an analytical chemist  for bulk drug products for GSK and for the last 18 years before coming to Chart Sutton a complete change of career as the manager of a community centre in New Eltham. Sue hopes to use this knowledge to help with the running of the village hall.

Lettings: Annegret Fidock

Annegret took over as letting secretary in January 2019,  so that’s 7 years! This includes keeping a diary & letting the hall to  sewing groups, yoga, Pilates, dance school, bowls etc. Then there are the booking for parties & private celebrations, every month she will send each hirer an invoice, they then pay through a bank transfer, cheque or cash.

Valerie Underdown

Valerie has lived in the village since 1998. She is retired from KCC where she was a Telecoms Manager for 25 years, having previously worked for the GPO/BT.  She is a Volunteer Support Worker for the local charity, Buttercups. Valerie has been a Parish Councillor since June 2007 and also serves on the village shop committee, she represents the Social Amenities Committee for the Village Hall.              

Steven Waring

Steven is in business as a landscape and agricultural contractor, with his firm being well known around the Maidstone area. He is a  Parish Councillor for Chart Sutton since May 2000 and also sits on the village shop committee. Steven represents the Parish Council on the village hall committee.

Maureen Fitzgerald

Maureen moved to Chart Sutton in 1986 and is a long-time volunteer and supporter of the Village Hall serving as Letting Secretary from 1991 to 2018. Some 27 years of commitment to growing the lettings and serving the users of the hall. She has continued as a committee member ever since. She helped with the opening of our community shop until the pandemic and currently plays an active part in organising the British Legion events.

Julie Tomkin

Julie has looked after and cleaned the village hall and surrounding area for 20 years, keeping it to a high standard for hirers to enjoy . As a member of the committee she is there to discuss any maintenance issues needed to keep the hall in tip top shape both inside and out.
